Epigenetics and Nanomedicine

The Epigenetics and Nanomedicine research group was established in 2015 as a result of the CINN’s growing activity in the biomedical field.

The current research lines are focused on eight main areas:

  • Application of new technologies in the search for epigenetic biomarkers related to aging and human carcinogenesis that are useful in clinical practice
  • Development of nanoparticles for the administration of combination of antitumor epigenetic drugs
  • Identification of epigenetic changes in response to nanomaterials, particularly graphene and graphenic materials
  • In-situ analysis of subcellular architecture
  • New inorganic antimicrobial products
  • Omics in health: Advanced techniques to study the bioactive role of food
  • Tissue engineering: Solutions against peri-implantitis, ceramic materials for long-lasting implants, bone substitutes
  • Identification and pharmacological manipulation of the molecular mechanisms involved in the signaling of Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs)
  • Computational biochemistry of membrane receptors 
  • Study of sarcomas and the evolution of tumor subpopulations during tumor progression and in response to anticancer treatments
