Spark Plasma Sintering
Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) is a non-conventional sintering technique characterized by the application of high uniaxial pressure and high intensity pulsed current to the sample that allows obtaining very fine microstructures in short periods of time as well as avoiding transformations of undesirable phase and the use of sintering additives.

Equipment
The CINN is equipped with the following Spart Plasma Sintering furnaces:
- A laboratory equipment for the preparation of samples up to 80 mm in diameter (HP D 25).
- An industrial scale research equipment for the preparation of blanks up to 400 mm in diameter. Additionally, this equipment allows sintering to be carried out with a hybrid Hot-Press/SPS heating system (H-HP D 400).
