Design of molecular targets for rapid and efficient identification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA species in CoVid-19 patients
Abstract
Due to the health emergency caused by the outbreak of the CoVid-19 pandemic, an immediate response is urgent for the development of tools that facilitate the detection and monitoring of patients susceptible to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This project aims to generate an alternative, fast and simple test for the direct detection of RNA species of this virus from human samples, in order to simplify the time and the experimental complexity required for the current diagnosis of the disease. To this end, the proposal contemplates the development of ultrafast nucleic acid isolation techniques, as well as the design of a set of fluorescent molecular targets and the use of scalable fluorometric analyzes using isothermal signal amplification technologies.
