The Theoretical and Computational Chemistry group at CINN and the RESMOL group at UAH are offering a PhD position (4 years) starting on 1st May 2025 to work with Dr. Pedro B. Coto (ORCID) and Prof. Luis Manuel Frutos Gaite (ORCID).

The position will be funded by the European Union through the FET-Pathfinder project BIOSINFIN.

Summary of the research

We are looking for a motivated PhD student interested in the investigation and development of new materials for energy applications. The candidate, together with a multi-disciplinary team, will use electronic structure methods, molecular-dynamics simulations, and machine-learning approaches to explore and design novel materials for energy conversion. The validation and characterization of the computational methodologies and materials will be carried out by the different experimental groups involved in the BIOSINFIN project.

Candidates must hold a MSc degree or equivalent in chemistry, physics, materials science, or related discipline. Experience in programming is required. Exposure/demonstrated hands-on-experience in computational materials modelling would be an asset.

The selected candidate will be hired by CSIC. The salary will be 31,084.54 € before taxes the first year.
