The CINN and the American Ceramic Society’s Spain Chapter will bring together researchers, students, and industry professionals in Oviedo on October 7-8 to address the challenges in developing new interfaces for multifunctional ceramic and glass materials and discuss the latest advances in the design, processing, and characterization of these new materials.

Program

On October 7, starting at 4:00 PM, the workshop “New Horizons in Multifunctional Ceramic and Glass Materials” will take place in the auditorium of the Delegation of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Oviedo. The deadline for abstract submissions is September 15, 2025.

On October 8, a visit will be made to the Multifunctional Materials Development Unit of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Research Center (CINN), where participants will get a firsthand look at some of the cutting-edge technologies used by CINN in the industrial-scale production of multifunctional ceramic materials. Among these, the hybrid Hot-Press/SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering) technology stands out.

The visit is free and open to all event attendees, subject to prior confirmation of attendance.

Accomodation

The organizers have reserved a block of rooms at the Gran Hotel España in Oviedo for the night of October 7. Workshop attendees interested in staying at this hotel should mention this when making their reservation to benefit from the agreed-upon rate (€65.97/night).
