Bone Grafts
Bone grafts, obtained by tissue engineering, are considered third-generation biomaterials since they seek to interact with the tissue in a specific way and combine the properties of bioabsorbability and bioactivity. They are materials that allow cell adhesion, promote growth and differentiation until the formation of new bone.
In the Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology Research Center (CINN), bone grafts are being developed based on: 1. calcium phosphates (HAp, b-TCP, HAp / b-TCP) and 2. Bioglass with antimicrobial capacity. The technology employed is based on a process of chemical synthesis, foaming, lyophilization and thermal treatment, obtaining scaffolding favorable to tissue regeneration.
