Heat sinks

There is a growing need for materials with ultrahigh thermal conductivity to cool down components and keep them at reliable operating temperatures. Usually, this type of needs are firstly detected in installations that operate at extreme conditions, such as those belonging to Big Science industries (i.e: collimators for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider), but they are also demanded in many other industrial sectors.

The CINN works in the design, synthesis, processing and characterization of a new generation of bulk carbon-ceramic composite materials with ultrahigh thermal conductivities, close to those of diamond or graphene.
